Did you recently check the status of your SASSA SRD R350 grant application and discover that you were declined because you are a member of the UIF (Unemployment Insurance Fund)?

UIF Registered Status for SASSA SRD R350

SASSA stipulated in its qualifications criteria for the SASSA SRD R350 that applicants cannot receive uif benefits or be eligible for uif benefits. How does that work? Clearly, SASSA is stating that you cannot be considered for the unemployed grant if you receive UIF or are eligible to receive UIF.

Statistically, many applicants are declined as a result of uif registration, and some applicants do not see a reason for this.Upon contacting Labour, they were informed they were not eligible for any UIF benefits currently or in the future.Since SASSA qualifies for UIF benefits, they wonder why SASSA is raising issues there.

What can i do to appeal if am declined for UIF registered?

SASSA will take a second look at your application and verify if you are in fact qualified, as is the case for all applicants who are declined. They have thirty (30) days from the date of the decline to submit an appeal or reconsideration application.

You can submit an appeal application at https://srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/reconsideration by following the screen prompts. You can choose “no UIF registered” as the reason for the reconsideration.

You will need to be patient while SASSA reviews this appeal

Labor Department officials posted on their Facebook page recently urging all aggrieved applicants who have been denied UIF registration to contact SASSA and request reconsideration rather than visit their various offices. To further investigate and verify, SASSA will correspond with the UIF department.

Some affected applicants have been worried about the delay in responding to their appeals applications for months. SASSA has acknowledged and apologized for that and assured them that their grants will be paid if they are eventually approved.
