The National Student Financial Aid Scheme provides scholarships to students from poor and working-class backgrounds to enable them to pursue higher education. For the upcoming academic year, students are encouraged to check the status of their bursary applications.

Students were urged to check their bursary application status through the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS). A student will find out if they are being funded for the academic year 2023 through their bursary application status.

There were more than 1.6 million applications for funding from NSFAS for the 2023 academic year. 941,491 students submitted bursary applications in 2023 and were funded.

The status of an application will either be approved or declined when a student checks their status. Students are informed of their provisional funding status here.A student whose application for funding has been approved for the coming academic year will be marked Approved.

More About Nsfas Application Was Approved Or Not

NSFAs requires proof of registration from institutions of higher learning before distributing funding. A student will receive official funding for the 2023 academic year once their registration has been confirmed by the university or TVET college.

Students who have not yet registered for a NSFAS-funded course are advised to do so at a public institution of their choice.

If a student’s application is declined, it means they do not meet the funding requirements.

A total of 317,335 bursary applications were unsuccessful, according to Nsfas. The NSFAS funding requirements were not met by the unsuccessful applicants.

Applicants who are unsuccessful in 2023 can submit an appeal if they believe they meet the criteria for NSFAS funding. A 30-day appeal period must be provided after the rejection status has been notified.

In addition, 206,781 applicants are awaiting evaluation, while 37,849 students are awaiting financial eligibility assessments and confirmations.

NSFAS will cover tuition and accommodation fees for students whose applications are approved. Several allowances will also be available to cover additional costs associated with studying.
